*Spoiler*
Well the part where he got away from the Indians - He did so by having a gun pointed at Bale and the rest of them. I didn't find the story preposterous at all personally. To each their own
The storyline is ludicrous and unbelievable.

***SPOILER***
There is no way Crowe's character would just all of a sudden change his mind like that and instantly become a good guy. The whole ending was preposterous.
Also, who the f are these stupid protagonists? Why would yo allow this Hannibal Lector-esque character to basically be free? Oh yeah, that's right, he had a 3 foot length of chain connectoing his wrists IN FRONT of his body - he'll never get away. Oops, he did. Well, let's chain him up again the same way and see if he gets away again. Oops, he did. This infuriated me.
And how the f did he escape that one time afer killing the indians? One minute he's got three guys with pistols pointed at him, the next there is a black screen fade and we see him riding into town with three stolen horses. All this just so we can see Luke Wilson electrocute him a little bit and have a chase scene.
The more I think about this movie, the more I dislike it. The only thing good about it were the performances ALL AROUND. And SPECTACULAR performances they were at that.
